Samsung reveals gold Galaxy S4

Smartphone manufacturer Samsung revealed two new colours to be added to the Galaxy S4 range. To be made available in the Middle East, the latest flagship smartphone will be made available in gold with a brown trim, or in pink with a gold trim.
“Have you seen the new elegant #GalaxyS4 new #GoldEdition colors? Gold Brown or Gold Pink,” Samsung Gulf said on their Facebook page as a caption to an image of the two new phone colours.

The announcement comes hot on the heels of the news that Apple’s latest device, the iPhone 5s, has sold out on its gold variants as soon as they became available.
Samsung announced in May that the Galaxy S4 has surpassed 10 million units sold in less than one month after its commercial debut. “There is no doubt that the local South African market has played an important role in reaching these phenomenal global figures – where we have witnessed a rapid uptake of the product. This result is driven by the device’s pure innovation and market leading functionality,” says Craige Fleischer, Director of Mobile Communications at Samsung Electronics South Africa, at the time.
“I would like to thank the thousands of local consumers, as well as millions of global users, who have selected the Samsung GALAXY S4 as their device of choice and helped us in reaching this incredible milestone.”
The S4 also set a new record for Samsung, generating sales quicker than any of its predecessors. Sales of the SIII reached the 10-million mark 50 days after its launch in 2012, while the SII took five months and the GALAXY S seven months to reach the same milestone.
There has been no confirmation as to whether the gold S4 will be made available to a wider market.
