Audi's has announced that it will bring a new concept model based on
the Audi Q3 junior crossover to the Beijing Auto Show next week. The
Audi RS Q3 Concept is propelled by a turbocharged 2.5 TFSI engine paired
to a seven-speed S tronic gearbox. The RS badge is not new to the Audi
lineup, but it is reserved to cars that are not top heavy.
The engine generates no less than 355bhp that lets it finish the 0-100kph sprint in 5.3 seconds and accelerate to a maximum speed of 265kph.
The changes to the exterior design compared to the regular Q3 variants start with the contrasting blue shade. The frame front grille, flanked by the giant air intakes underneath tinted headlamps distinguish the front fascia. The rear fascia is similar except for the redesigned bumper that integrates the tail pipe and diffuser. There's a glass sunroof to make the interior feel more spacious and airy. The car has been lowered by about 25 mm and it looks more powerful thanks to subtle touches like the sharpened edges around the outer air intakes. The side mirror console is made of black CFRP, while matt aluminum trim frames feature on the side windows. The re-dressed Audi RS Q3 Concept sits on tires of the size 255/30. Audi has not mentioned whether it will mass produce the RS version of the Q3 but we expect them to discuss the model's production feasibility past its world premiere.
