Most solar panels facing the wrong way

If you happen to have solar panels on your house, they might need a change of direction.
A new study suggests that the standard industry advice (at least in this hemisphere) of having the panels face south is wrong, reports National Geographic. Try west instead.
The study by the Pecan Street Research Institute in Texas found that homes with west-facing panels generate 2% more electricity per day, with the biggest benefit coming in the late afternoon — generally peak usage time for utilities, notes Gizmodo.

HOLLYWOOD — You just got a new phone, and the first question you've got is how to fill it up. What are the top apps to start downloading?
We went out here on a recent sunny day and asked folks the five apps they would pick. Nearly each one started with the same top app: Facebook, which makes sense, since 1.2 billion of us are members of the social network.
But no two people had the exact same five choices.

NBCUniversal to invest in tech news site by Swisher, Mossberg

NBCUniversal will invest and have a minority stake in a new web venture to be created by technology journalists Walt Mossberg and Kara Swisher, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Mossberg and Swisher founded technology news site AllThingsD in 2007 as an extension of the Wall Street Journal's D: All Things Digital conference that debuted four years earlier.

WhatsApp is giving its competition a run for it with the new voice messaging feature that can easily be activated by just pushing the “record” button on the app.

WhatsApp messages currently total to about eleven billion sent and around twenty billion received on a daily basis. The new voice messaging feature is expected to increase that count.
